This Privacy Policy explains how CK Counselling collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit my website www.ckcounselling.net or engage in my counselling services.

I take your privacy seriously and comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act. I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO). For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1988 and GDPR, the data controller is: Caroline Kennedy

  • Counselling Services: I collect your name, contact number (phone or email), date of birth, address, preferred contact method, medical/psychiatric history (if applicable), GP details (if needed), and session notes.


Why I Collect Information
I use your information to: 

  • To provide you with effective and ethical therapeutic services which are appropriate to your individual needs.

  • To communicate with you such as responding to enquiries, providing appointment confirmations, invoicing and sharing important information related to your therapy. 

  • Maintain brief anonymous session notes as required by my professional body (BACP).

  • Personalise and improve my website and services based on feedback.

  • Adapt services and make referrals (with your consent or in emergencies).


Information Security
I protect your information with appropriate safeguards set out by the BACP. These include physical, administrative, and electronic security measures. 

  • Information is stored on a locked device and computer.

  • Contact information is stored on password-protected devices and deleted after a set period (phone number) or potentially retained (email) for contacting you.


Sharing Your Information
I will not share your personal information except for the purposes it was collected for, with your consent, or as required by law. (e.g., by a court order, or in cases of terrorism, money laundering, drug trafficking or safeguarding concerns).  


 

Confidentiality is Paramount: 

  • I may break confidentiality only if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.

  • I will only retain your information for as long as necessary and in accordance with BACP guidelines. This is usually 7 years after therapy has ended. 

  • I do not trade information with third parties under any circumstances.

  • Everything discussed in therapy is confidential.

My website may contain links to third-party websites. I am not responsible for their privacy practices.


Changes to This Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy at any time. I will revise the date at the bottom of this section. Please review this document periodically to stay informed.


Your Acceptance
By using my website, completing forms, leaving voice messages, or attending counselling sessions, you signify your acceptance of this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.

Under GDPR you have the following rights:

  • The Right to Access the personal information I hold about you. 

  • The Right to Rectification – to request that I correct any incorrect information I hold about you

  • The Right to Erasure (the right to be forgotten) – you can request that I delete your personal information subject to legal and ethical obligations.
